Stephen Uhlhorn founded 6-D Laser, LLC in 2018 with the aim of improving the results of ultrafast laser material processing applications. At that time, a major bottleneck for material processing was the coordination of the laser, scanner and motion systems that are all required to make an effective tool. As all of the components have dramatically improved, a new frontier has emerged where process control and part inspection have become more important. With that, 6D Laser has shifted its focus to the development sensing and metrology systems, specifically for laser material processing applications.
